Our Favorite Cycling Moments of 2021

The pandemic has been tough on all of us and a time of difficult changes. We've also seen an increased interest in people choosing bikes over cars over the years and more recently -- with good reason (there are just too many to list)! Let’s all take a moment to appreciate this movement to support biking that has been one of our silver linings of the current events taking place.

2021 was the year of the Electric bicycle and bike shares

With bike shares popping up all over the place, 2021 was a banner year for green transportation. We saw an increase in their popularity from Bike Metro LA, CitiBike in NYC, Divvy Bikes in Chicago, and Bird nation wide as well! It's great that these companies are providing people with options other than driving cars or taking taxis - they really help make our cities more sustainable by using less fossil fuels while making getting around easier for everyone who uses them.

More people are taking to the streets by bike including celebrities and politicians. We think this can only be a good thing!

We applaud Culver City's MOVE project that features a range of improvements for pedestrians, transit riders and cyclists. Not only does this allow an improved connection to downtown but also dedicated lanes in both bus rapid transit (BRT) as well bike paths which provides visibility on how sustainable forms travel can coexist with one another safely! We love the community involvement especially when it comes down their workmanship painted lanes all throughout the vision they have set out there themselves - They are role model others cities should follow. Find out more at the city's website.

Ciclavia Returned This Summer

The summer's return of Ciclavia is one of the best things to happen. Their events make streets safe for cyclists and pedestrians, which was a welcome sight during this pandemic period where everyone seemed intent on staying inside as much as possible! I hope you join me next time there at their next around town; not only is it a great way to enjoy fresh outdoors and sunshine, but also provides an opportunity to bike and walk some pretty incredible neighborhoods safely.
